Scottish Garden Pictures (the artist's garden)

These Scottish garden pictures show the wealth of colour, and variety of plants outside John's studio in Dundee, providing a great source of inspiration for many paintings.
His previous career in horticulture, landscaping, forestry is reflected in the design and maintenance of this large sloping garden.

There is colour all year round, even in winter with the Cornus and Kerria, then in February the show starts in a serious mood with the Snowdrops and Aconites ahead of the Crocus, Daffodils and Tulips.
As well as bulbs and annuals there is also scented roses, (bush, shrubs, and climbers), a heather garden, Rhododendrons, Azaleas, herbaceous border, carnations, lavender, rosemary, lilies, and a fruit garden with apples, plums, peaches, pears, rasps, strawberries, blueberries, figs, etc.

There are two sunny patios with fantastic panoramic views over the River Tay and a greenhouse with tomatoes and grapes. John now has a new allotment garden growing a wide variety of plants as well as giving him ideas for paintings seen here at allotment gardening.
