Modern and contemporary figurative paintings show John’s Scottish models, draped and some nude as they pose in the studio, the garden, on the beach and in the bedroom. John captures a sensual mood with his models using lights in a darkened artist studio so the models pose is more sensual rather than an erotic model pose. The directional lights also creates drama, and brilliant reflected lights on the model. Scottish models are also captured in the Romantic Paintings page and are present in his Lady in Red series exploring life around Dundee, the City of Discovery.

John uses acrylic, watercolour, pastel and oil paints for his painting mediums, and is also happy to accept private commissions for pets, people, holidays, figurative paintings and any other topic.
