Peinchorran on Loch Sligachan is the last small village on the road from Portree to The Braes on Loch Sligachan. It is said to be the site of the last battle in Scotland, when the farm workers refused to leave their homes during the clearances. The Glasgow police were sent for to get them evicted, but they wouldn’t leave without a battle. The cluster of houses and cottages made a great image for a good Scottish winter landscape painting from the Isle of Skye.
